The purpose of providing expertise during dog-dog introductions is to help you accomplish several key goals.
Safety: Proper precautions must be taken to ensure that all parties are safe when introducing your resident dog to a possible new dog. Using behavioral expertise, we will help make sure that both dogs are giving affiliative signs, so as to avoid conflict.
Matchmaking: For a successful pairing of dogs, it is crucial that both dogs either have similar play styles, or if they don't, that they both respect each other enough to leave the other alone.
We examine what each dog's energy is like around the other, and factor in size, age, and even breed tendencies.
All of these aspects serve to help set up everyone in the home for success--and avoid potentially calamitous results of placing a poorly-matched dog in the home.
